Sabbatical in Singapore

I’m going on sabbatical in August! I’ll be working with Ye Wang on “Music for Language Learning” in the Sound & Music Computing Lab at the National University of Singapore!

Other things that I will be doing include:

  1. Continuing to work on MegsRadio.fm. This involves research on music recommendation, playlist algorithms, human-in-the-loop learning, and interactive design.
  2. Getting up to speed on current trends in machine learning and deep neural networks research. This will involve taking both graduate courses at both NUS and online.
  3. Serving as the program co-chair for the 2017 International Society for Music Information Retrieval conference in Suzhou, China.

It should be an exciting few months both living abroad with my family as well as getting to focus fully on my own learning and research. You can also follow our family travel blog at http://sg.dougturnbull.org/
